Brickfield Square sits on the old clay quarry for the Dolphins Barn Brick Company. DBC was one of the most prominant brickworks companies in the city during the first half of the 20th Centurary. Its bricks were used in the many prominant building in the city including the National Gallery of Ireland. Our design solution is to highlight this historic material that stands in the context of this site.

The Davenport Spa

A Luxury Boutique Spa occupying the lower ground floor of the Davenport Hotel is dedicated to wellbeing and relaxation. The interiors open up to a series of areas, including a majestic swimming pool, vitality and plunge pool, steam room with Italian glass mosaics, sauna with feature Himalayan salt wall and relaxation lounge; a soothing sanctuary to escape the stress of modern life. Intimately warm thanks to a rich palette of textures and earthy blush hues enlivened with arched thresholds , curved sculpted walls, vaulted ceiling and soft concealed lighting throughout. Deep stained timber joinery sits alongside natural stones and woven textiles creating a scheme rooted in the heritage of the hotel while refreshingly contemporary.

Situated along Harcourt street, a prime location in the heart of Dublin city centre, Pen & Player offers an intimate escape for its clientele. Residing within the ground floor of two Georgian houses, the interiors were designed to enhance the architectural heritage of the buildings with a sympathetic approach that incorporates modern design in a thoughtful way. With a warm and moody palette, the dramatic wall covering is a basis for the finishes throughout the scheme. The space is flooded with a rich burgundy tone: the walls, skirtings and cornicing and ornate ceiling all finished in the same colour creating a cocooning and relaxing environment.

Newly completed, the 21SPACES team oversaw the full renovation of this historic building, formerly known as The Mont Clare Hotel. The design concept highlights textures, materials and well crafted details to bring traditional and modern design together.

The 21SPACES team were tasked with reinvigorating the highly respected and established centrally located Dublin Hotel.

The design concept focuses on the creation of a series of individual and textured spaces that are not only each unique in their offering, but also in their indentity and style. With a subtle nod towards orient influences the scheme brings a stylish coherence emphasising clean lines and eastern minimalism. A robust pallet of natural materials have been utilised throughout, punctuated with colours inspired by landscapes.

The hotel is a 125 bed facility with multiple bars and restaurants, meeting rooms, nightclub & spa.

Transforming one of Dublin’s most established hotels to a contemporary four star property. The Alex is a 122 bed hotel with full food, beverage & function room facilities. Our task was to fully refurbish and transform a dated 1990s structure into one of Europe’s coolest hotel properties. Our team created and designed every facet of the property including carpets, rugs, furniture and of course the interior design architecture.
The project was undertaken in 13 months from concept, statutory, site to completion within a live environment floor by floor.

Opting for a pared back and natural material palette, the design for the new co-working offices at Lapps Quay was driven by the site’s panoramic views overlooking the River Lee.

The full two-floor office refurbishment was designed by 21Spaces, in collaboration with Glandore as they launched their largest co-working workplace in Cork city.

With the objective to open up the space and capture the essence of the movement reflected in the city’s views, 21Spaces designed a continuous line of transparency throughout the project. Every office and break out zone can be viewed from the central core.

To craft each space, materiality is explored through layering textiles against warm timbers, concrete, feature glass block walls and renewably sourced materials such as Baux acoustic panelling. 21Spaces formed the identity of Lapps Quay by promoting local artists and craftsmen through artwork, detailed joinery, and bespoke furniture.

Located at one of Dublin’s Georgian terraces, our team was tasked with transforming a vacant Georgian terrace building into a shared office space with boardrooms, social co-working spaces as well as an exterior break-out garden. As a listed building, our team was conscious of rejuvenating the building's historical features by bringing colour and materiality to the foreground, highlighting the natural light illuminating the space.

The new club room at Arthur House consisted of deconstructing multiple office spaces into one cohesive workspace that could transform into an event space.

Our team focused on stripping back the site to expose its existing industrial features, and juxtapose vibrant colours with more pared back muted tones. Each piece of joinery was crafted specifically for the project, with careful consideration to ensure that the design gave way for natural and informal meeting spaces. Located in the heart of Belfast city centre, the club room takes over two offices, an outdoor terrace, as well a social space for people to relax.

Spread across three buildings and located close to the centre of Dublin, the Montpellier Hill Residence is equipped to accommodate 319 students. Arranged into 48 student house units with shared living, kitchen, dining areas and communal spaces which are positioned on the ground floor.

The design concept was centred around creating a distinct, unique and inspiring environment that encourages students to socialise, study and have fun. The interior design approach that 21 Spaces adopted was that of a layered concept. The first of these layers being furniture which is a vibrant mixture of modern, utilitarian and bespoke pieces. The second layer is made up of bold, hard waring materials that not only provide visual impact but are robust by their nature for example plywood, ceramic tiles and metal. The third layer is comprised of artistic touches such as vibrant colours, striking graphics and creative use of signage, that transform the space into a place that students can call home.

Life Style Sports Capitol is a destination sports retail store spanning two floors. The brief was to design a scheme specifically to showcase the brand’s extensive product range whilst fusing customer interaction, sports culture and fashion. The overall design concept provides an industrial and urban envelope with a fine tuned retail system installed with the upmost precision. The sports store is a unique destination, striking a balance between retail and social space punctuated with interactive customer experiences, which ultimately delivers an energetic and engaging atmosphere.

Preserving the original glazed bricks were a priority, and in doing so, lightweight free standing retail units were installed in order to embrace the historic characteristics of the building.
